On October 16, 2000 more than 150 concerned citizens of Sarasota
and Manatee Counties convened at Five Points Park in Sarasota, Florida. Their purpose was to show support for
Israel and the efforts to restore peace in that region.
Organizers of the rally were completely independent of any organization. The
intent of the rally was to bring attention to the importance of a peaceful solution to the current unrest in the region.
A few short speeches were made by area Rabbi's and concerned Israeli-Americans regarding the current conditions and the need for more balanced reporting by the media. Supporters carried signs proclaiming messages of concern, and prayer for a peaceful solution.
